Dr. Roger W. Davis was inaugurated as the ninth President of Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) during an afternoon ceremony in campus’s iconic Dome on September 27, 2019. The first African American President of the college, Dr. Davis delivered remarks on the “Journey of Belief,” addressing an audience of more than 400 family, friends, faculty, staff, students and alumni, past presidents, higher education delegates, and government and community leaders.

The ceremony was followed by a fund-raising gala, whereby all donations and ticket sale proceeds, totaling $103,000, established the President’s Excellence Fund.

The President’s Excellence Fund is a newly endowed fund at the CCBC Foundation that allows the College to allocate donations where they are needed most across today’s shifting higher-education landscape. These gifts will position CCBC to flexibly address its most pressing needs and seize opportunities as they arise. Building and endowing the President’s Excellence Fund is a key fundraising priority for President Davis as it will enable CCBC to meet the unknown challenges of tomorrow and serve the interests of the community while remaining true to its driving principles and strategic plan.

The ceremony and gala were focal points of a month-long celebration highlighting Davis’s academic excellence, student engagement, and bold future vision for the college. Dr. Davis celebrated his inauguration as the ninth president of the college by engaging in nine community activities, including the United Way Day of Caring, Shell Scholarship Night, high school football, story hour at a local library, and a family-oriented Touch-a-Plane event highlighting CCBC’s signature aviation programs.
