Tools and Services to Support Your Success

CCBC Library is here to help you Stay Strong with research support, course-specific resources, and access to electronic databases for articles and other academic content. Faculty and students can use services like course reserves for class materials and interlibrary loan when you need something beyond the CCBC collection. Community members can also benefit from the library’s partnership with the Beaver County Library System, including the ability to request materials from other system libraries electronically.

CCBC Library collection and services are available to all residents of Beaver County. Beaver County Library System cards issued at the public libraries are accepted at CCBC Library and vice-versa.

A current library card is required for access to library computers and to check out materials. The cost of printing is 10 cents per page; $1.00 per page for color copying. Application for a library card can be made at the Customer Service desk. A photo ID or other proof of residency is required.

Please note that a patron with an overdue balance above $5.00 will have privileges suspended until the balance is paid in part or in full. Patrons who have lost their library card will be charged $2.00 for a new one.

Borrowing and returning materials
CCBC Library has a partnership with the Beaver County Library System which permits patrons to request materials from other system libraries electronically. Patrons can also return materials to any of the libraries when they are due. The borrowing period can be extended for two additional weeks if the item is not being requested by another patron, and that can be done by the patron through the online catalog page.

How much do you know about CCBC Library?

Library Orientation

A good way to introduce your new students to the Library is to arrange a Library Orientation session when librarians provide a tour of the facilities, an overview of our services and an introduction to B-VR-PAC, the Library online catalog. At that time, students can also obtain their library card, which allows them to use the Library computers and access our research databases from home. To schedule a Library orientation session, please fill out the Faculty Request for Group Library Instruction form and contact the reference librarian two weeks before the date to reserve a time slot.

Course-integrated Instruction
For more in-depth instruction, sessions can be tailored specifically to your course assignments. Librarians can teach students how to use reference materials, online databases, periodical indexes, relevant Web sites, and much more. To schedule an instruction session, please fill out the Faculty Request for Group Library Instruction form and contact the reference librarian two weeks before the date to reserve a time slot.

Individual Assistance
Faculty may also set up individual appointments with the librarian to discuss course assignments, library resources, and instruction, research needs, student learning outcomes, etc., by calling Terri Gallagher at (724) 480-3427.

Reserves
Textbooks on reserve can be very helpful to your students. To place materials on reserve for your class, please fill out a Reserve Book Form, available at the Customer Service desk. At least 24-hour advance notice must be given to place materials on reserve. For questions about course reserves, please contact Daren Tadich, (724)480-3408.

Interlibrary loan
Materials located at any of the Beaver County public libraries can be sent to CCBC Library through the REQUEST link on the online catalog. They will usually arrive at CCBC Library within two business days.

Books or articles that are not available locally may be requested through the interlibrary loan service. Questions about interlibrary loan should be directed to the library, (724) 480-3442.

Suggestions for library materials
CCBC librarians welcome faculty suggestions for new titles relevant to specific courses. Please contact the library and request that Library Book Requisition Forms be sent to you, or email the librarian.
