High School Academies

FIND YOUR WAY. START YOUR FUTURE.

Enroll in one of Community College of Beaver County’s High School Academies to jump-start your college education and discover the career that’s meant for you.

CCBC’s High School Academies are providing Western Pennsylvania’s young people with high-impact educational experiences to prepare them for careers that address the priority workforce needs of the region. Launched in 2015 with the Aviation Academy, the CCBC High School Academy program now educates more than 200 students from 80+ different school districts through an innovative dual enrollment model in which students have the opportunity to explore careers in areas of workforce priority for the region while receiving hands-on instruction from college faculty in labs and classroom environments that stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Students who devote two years of study to the program will have the opportunity to graduate from high school having completed up to one year of credits toward CCBC’s associate degree programs, or they can transfer the credits to other colleges and universities. Through premier partnerships with four-year college programs, many academy graduates can complete a bachelor’s degree in three years or less.

CCBC is currently offering all of the below Academy pathway courses in-person or online live! This allows students to have the option to choose to take their courses in person at our designated locations, or they can log in online live each day from home or school to participate. To find out more about the options for each pathway, please click on the Academy pathway you are interested in attending.

Apply Now

Applying is simple. Just follow these steps!

Step 1: Meet with your high school counselor to get information about how the Academies will work with your high school schedule.

Step 2: Complete the CCBC Online Application. Once you click the link to apply to CCBC, you will be required to create a login. Once you have created that login, you will then be sent an email (check your spam folder as well), and that email will prompt you to create a password. Once your password is created, you will then be directed to the application. Once at the application, you will see definitions of the different types of applications, and you must select which program you are applying for. Please do not select College in High School or Dual Enrollment. Once you select the appropriate application, in this case, the High School Academy application, it will then prompt you to complete the remainder of the application process. When you arrive at the Program selection question, you will want to select the appropriate major for the Academy you will be attending. Please only select one of the options below on the application:

  • Aviation Academy Options: Professional Pilot, Air Traffic Control, or Aerospace Management (all pathways take the same courses).
  • Health Academy Options: Allied Health Nursing, Allied Health Radiologic Technology, or Allied Health Sciences (all pathways take the same courses).
  • STEM Academy Options: Engineering, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity (courses may be different for each pathway).
  • Criminal Justice Academy Options: Criminal Justice.
  • Education Academy Options: PreK- 4th or Secondary Education (courses may be different for each pathway).
  • Business Academy

Step 3:
After applying online to the Academies, acquire all signatures on the required signature page, which is part of the Academies Admissions Packet. You can print that document by clicking here.

Step 4: Turn in the signature page to your high school counselor. Your high school counselor can scan and email the signature page along with your current high school transcripts and most current grade report to collegehereandnow@ccbc.edu.

Step 5: Once the application, signature page, high school transcripts, and most current grade report are received, the College Here and Now team will review your application for acceptance into the academies. The team begins to review applications in March of each year. Applications will be accepted until the end of July.

Step 6: Upon acceptance to any of the CCBC High School Academies, you will receive an official acceptance letter in the Spring or Summer depending on when the team received your application and other supporting documents. This letter contains important details and information. All accepted applicants begin classes in the Fall.

Step 7: The acceptance letter will give you details on how to start the onboarding and the registration process.

If you have any questions about any of the above application process information, please reach out to us at collegehereandnow@ccbc.edu.
