About the President

Dr. Roger W. Davis

On February 26, 2019, the CCBC Board of Trustees formally approved the appointment of Dr. Roger W. Davis as the College’s ninth president and first African American president.

Before his appointment, Dr. Davis served as CCBC’s Executive Vice President and Provost, a position that relocated the Baltimore native to Beaver County in July 2016. Since arriving on campus, he has successfully led the College to a strategic plan that has transformed the College’s culture of assessment, retention, and diversity, and strengthened CCBC’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Students First, and Excellence (RAISE).

His drive for excellence helped the College garner a variety of recognitions, rankings, and awards like Top Colleges in Pennsylvania, Best Nursing Schools in the Nation, Top Innovative Aviation Organization by American Airlines Military-Friendly School by GI Jobs Magazine, Great Colleges to Work For, Beaver County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, the United Way of Beaver County Extra Effort Award, Carnegie Science Leadership in STEM Education Award, and named Beaver County Times “Best of the Valley” multiple times.

As President, he has launched a new mission and strategic plan focused on the student journey and institutional progression; adopted Cengage digital textbooks across 90% of courses and is now a member of their Customer Advisory Network; led the college community through the successful reaffirmation of its Middle States accreditation meeting all standards for the first time in 40 years; earned two Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants totaling $1.2 million to elevate CCBC’s nationally recognized James M. Johnson School of Aviation Sciences and sustain the iconic Dome, and shaped the region’s $67 million Build Back Better Challenge Grant ensuring CCBC received $1.7 million to uphold Pillar 3 Upskilling: Expanded Pathways to New Economy Careers.

Dr. Davis continues to lead the development of a dynamic, engaged, and diverse CCBC Foundation Board working alongside the Board to support CCBC students by establishing the President Roger W. Davis Excellence Fund and raising $110,000. In addition, Notable gifts from Shell, The Allegheny Foundation, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education totaling $5.5 million funded the Shell Center for Process Technology Education the first building on campus fully funded by external philanthropic support.

Dr. Davis is a champion for student success and retention. He worked closely with faculty and staff to establish the CCBC Honors Program. Additionally, the CCBC High School Academy prepares juniors and seniors for careers that address priority workforce needs. The Academy now educates more than 170 students from 40 school districts throughout Western Pennsylvania as they earn college credits before high school graduation.

President Davis remains active in the classroom as a Collegiate Adjunct Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Maryland Global Campus and is a dynamic and sought-after speaker regionally, nationally, and at professional development programs.

A resident of Rochester, he is an integrated community member, sought after speaker, and influential regional partner. He is a board member for Heritage Valley Health System, New Economy Collaborative, Beaver County Educational Trust, The Franklin Center of Beaver County, and Flourish Beaver County. He is also an inaugural appointee to the Remake Learning Cabinet.

Dr. Davis earned a doctoral degree in Urban Educational Leadership from Morgan State University, a Master of Science degree in Adult Education with Honors from Coppin State College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
