Phi Theta Kappa

Beta Alpha Upsilon Chapter

The international honor society for two-year colleges, celebrating academic achievement, leadership, and service among CCBC’s top scholars.

A legacy of academic excellence

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievements of college students and gives members the opportunity to grow as scholars and leaders. Founded in 1918, the society now has a presence on nearly 1,300 community college campuses across 11 nations. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges named Phi Theta Kappa the official honor society for two-year colleges.

More than 3.5 million students have been inducted since 1918, with roughly 250,000 active members in the nation’s community colleges today, making Phi Theta Kappa a true catalyst among members and colleges.

Membership opens the door to:

  • Scholarships available only to PTK members
  • Leadership development, service projects, and chapter initiatives
  • A worldwide network of high-achieving scholars, faculty, and alumni
  • Recognition at graduation, including honor regalia and transcript notation
