Monaca, PA – The Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) has named Dr. Eugene Whitfield Harris as Dean of the James M. Johnson School of Aviation Sciences.
Dr. Harris brings extensive experience in aviation education, academic leadership, and workforce development to CCBC. Throughout his career, he has served in leadership and instructional roles across higher education and aviation training, including Aviation Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Aviation at Mercer County Community College, Gold Seal FAA-certified flight instructor with Air-Mods Flight Academy, and longtime adjunct professor at Saint Peter’s University.
“Dr. Harris is an outstanding addition to the CCBC leadership team,” said Dr. Roger W. Davis, president of CCBC. “His expertise in aviation education, commitment to student success, and vision for building strong industry partnerships will help strengthen our aviation programs and prepare students for rewarding careers in one of the nation’s fastest-growing industries.”
Dr. Harris has focused on advancing FAA Part 141 and Part 61 compliance, academic quality, and workforce readiness. He has led initiatives to grow aviation enrollment, improve student retention and training outcomes, and expand partnerships that connect students with internships and career opportunities. Earlier in his career, he also served in K–12 education as both a charter school chief school administrator and public school principal.
Dr. Harris earned a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Saint Peter’s University, as well as a bachelor’s degree with honors from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. He is an accomplished aviator, holding FAA Commercial Pilot certificates with single- and multi-engine ratings, instrument ratings, Gold Seal Certified Flight Instructor credentials, and Advanced Ground Instructor certification.
