Dual Enrollment

Get a Jumpstart on College While in High School

CCBC’s Dual Enrollment program allows high school students to take college courses taught by CCBC faculty. Designed as an à la carte option, Dual enrollment gives students the opportunity to select individual courses that align with their pathway interests or future goals. This model provides an accessible, flexible way for students to experience college-level coursework without committing to one of CCBC’s structured High School Academy Pathways.

Individuals accepted in the Dual Enrollment pathway may enroll for no more than two courses per semester, will not be eligible for financial aid benefits, and cannot enroll in developmental courses.

Requirements:

  • Students who have completed freshman year of high school
  • High School GPA 2.8 or higher
  • Meet required CCBC pre-requisite courses or placement scores
  • Approval from school district.

Steps to Apply and Enroll in Dual Enrollment Courses

Step 1. Complete the CCBC online application by clicking APPLY NOW. Once you click the link to apply to CCBC, you will be required to create a login. Once your password is created, you have created that login, you will then be sent an email (check your spam folder as well), and that email will prompt you to create a password. Once your password is created, you will then be directed to the application. Once at the application, you will see definitions of the different types of applications, and you must select which program you are applying for, which in this case will be the Dual Enrollment application. Please do not select High School Academies or College in High School.

Step 2. Next, print the Dual Enrollment Registration Form. This form will need to be signed by your parent or legal guardian and the high school principal or designee. The courses you wish to enroll in should be listed on the portion called Course Selection. Students can view our current course schedule online by using our Course Search tool.

Step 3. Official high school transcripts and the most recent grade report must accompany the completed dual enrollment registration form. Once the dual enrollment registration form is completed by the student and school, it can be emailed to our team at collegehereandnow@ccbc.edu. Once our team has received your completed online application, dual enrollment registration form, and supporting transcripts/most recent grade report, it will be reviewed for meeting GPA and prerequisite requirements.

If a student meets all requirements, their registration will be processed. Our team will then reach out to the students to confirm their registration and provide the next steps to prepare to begin classes.

Tuition Cost

Beaver County High School Students: CCBC high school students who have a permanent address in Beaver County will be charged CCBC in-county tuition cost per credit. These costs do not include textbooks, lab kits, course enhancement fees, and/or flight costs.

Out-of-county/Out-of-state High School Students: CCBC high school students enrolled in classes who are enrolled in a non-Beaver County high school will be charged a tuition rate of 1 ½ times the Beaver County Resident tuition rate, plus all applicable fees. These costs do not include textbooks, lab kits, course enhancement fees, and/or flight costs.

Note: Each year, the CCBC Board will approve the following year’s tuition cost and fees in May of that current year.

Available Courses

The credit course schedule is available under “Course Search” at MyCCBC. Select courses are available with in-person options at select campuses. To view the availability of the courses, click here.

A sampling of the courses that students have previously taken are listed below:

  • College Algebra
  • Calculus
  • English Composition
  • History
  • Introduction to Information Technology
  • General Psychology
  • Principles of Sociology

Dual Enrollment students are not limited to particular course offerings. As long as high school requirements, GPA, and prerequisites are met and the counselor/school district approves the course(s), students are permitted to register in a variety of disciplines. A student is limited to taking two courses per semester.

Registration

CCBC makes every effort to ensure that Dual Enrollment students are registered for the classes they plan to take. However, students should refer to the academic calendar for registration dates. If a student’s application and registration form are received after the deadline to enroll, the student’s registration will not be processed.

After Registration
Once the college has all the required documents, students are registered for the courses they selected. A copy of their schedule is emailed to the email address on their application.

Billing
CCBC is now utilizing paperless billing. To view a billing invoice, a student must log in to their MyCCBC account. We have online, by phone, and in-person options for students to pay their invoices. For a step-by-step guide to help with different options for paying, go to Payment Options.
